RE: The tariff classification of a woman’s suit-type jacket from China

Dear Mr. Gonzalez:

In your letter dated December 29, 2014, you requested a tariff classification ruling. Your sample will be returned as requested. Item 32512 is a woman’s suit-type jacket constructed from 55% polyester and 45% wool woven fabric. The fully-lined jacket is composed of three or more panels sewn together lengthwise, two of which are in the front. The garment features a full front opening secured by two button closures, a notched collar with lapels, long sleeves, one pocket at the chest, and two pockets below the waist. The applicable subheading for item 32512 will be 6204.33.4010, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for Women’s or girls’ suits, ensembles, suit-type jackets, blazers, dresses, skirts, divided skirts, trousers, bib and brace overalls, breeches and shorts (other than swimwear): Suit-type jackets and blazers: Of synthetic fibers: Containing 36 percent or more by weight of wool or fine animal hair: Women’s. The rate of duty will be 46.3 cents/kg + 21 percent ad valorem.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
